What’s New for 2022?
For this year, Chevy has added a few features to the Tahoe inventory. The top trims get a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine. The Z71 trim adds an electric differential as well. All Tahoe models except for the LS trim have a customizable 12.3-inch gauge cluster. The LT trim and above now have Google’s voice assistant, app store, and maps. More standard features like the automatic high-beams, rear and front parking sensors, and lane-keep assist are included. A system of thirteen different cameras for trailering is also available.
GM’s Buckle to Drive feature comes standard in all the Chevrolet Tahoe models. The feature prevents out-of-park shifting unless the front passenger and the driver buckle.
Trims Levels
The Tahoe comes in six trim levels.
LS
The LS trim has several standard features: power-adjustable driver and passenger seats, leather-wrapped steering, climate controls, and a keyless entry. A 10.2-inch infotainment system also comes standard. The infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice recognition, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
There are also several standard safety-tech and driver-assist features. They include forward automatic brakes, high beams, pedestrian detection, and a rear-seat reminder. Rear cross-traffic warning and blind-spot monitors are optional.
LT
The LT adds heated front seats, leather seats, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and a nine-speaker stereo.
A few optional features include a surround-view camera system, power-folding 3rd-row seats, heated second-row seats, and heated steering.
RST
The RST mirrors the LT model’s features. However, the RST trim has a unique interior and blacked-out exterior elements.
Z71
The Z71 features a 2-speed transfer case, a front-skid plate, and all-terrain tires. You can also outfit it with an optional Magnetic Ride Control and an electronic differential.
Premier
The Premier builds on the LT trim with a few advanced features. They are navigation, ventilated and twelve-way power-adjustable front seats, power-folding second-row and third-row seats, and blind-spot monitors. A rearview camera system and cruise control are optional.
High Country
It is the top-spec trim on the lineup. It comes standard with an advanced head-up display, a surround-view camera, and air suspension.
Engine and Performance
The Tahoe uses a standard 5.3-liter V8 engine that produces 355 horsepower and makes 383 pound-feet of torque. There are two other engine options with better and livelier performance. There is a 420-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine and a 277-horsepower 6-cylinder diesel engine.
Ride quality is amenable and luxurious due to its standard spring suspension. Also, the Tahoe has little body rolls around corners. The steering is accurate and highly responsive.
Exterior Design
The Tahoe SUV rolls on 18-inch wheels for the LS trim and 22-inch for the High Country. The RST trim has black-finished elements, including its grille and wheels. The Z71 trim level features a front-skid plate emphasizing its off-road capabilities.
Interior Design
The LS trim can seat up to nine passengers. The back seat has enough headroom and legroom for tall passengers. In addition, seat covers range from cloth upholstery to perforated leather.
A sliding center console comes standard in the two top trims and is optional on the rest. The Tahoe includes a drawer, a manual sliding armrest, and cup holders for passengers in the second row. The cargo space behind the third-row seats measures 25.5 cubic feet and 72.6 cubic feet with the seats folded. You can fold both the second-row and third-row seats to get 122.9 cubic feet.
